"Despite the emergence of 'The End of Rock Music'
school of music journalism, the North is still alive and kicking ass.. With all their aggression,
the hard-edge blues, the screaming and the quirky rhythms,
Sweetheart had (R.I.P.) enough originality to equal the likes of The Birthday Party." -Zap (GER).
Out on Bad Vugum:

Mr. Cocktail 7"
(Bad-17)
"Dirtbowlin' guitar contusion, resplendent with wayward
sax, unruly tempo changes and gnarled throat carnage, yet another big hand to a bunch of
Finnish puds!" -Grim Humour (UK). "..sounds like Laughing Hyenas trying to be
Birthday Party with John Brannon's kidsister on vocals.. Quite a lot better than anything AmRep
have released lately" -Moshable (DK)
Forestside 7"
(Bad-26)
"Finland's answer to Cows, perhaps.. Even better than
their first 7", and if that's not a recommendation, I dunno what is!" -Moshable.
”Näin villisti pitää kulmikasta ryminää tehdä!” –Rumba.
Well-Dressed Meat LP / CD
(Bad-32)
"Sweetheart would have to rank up there
with the sickest Fin outfits... Bastardizes Birthday Party -style r& r hoot, honing the twists
and turns to a skeletal Pussy Galore-ish sheen... this fucker really roars like the great spazzed-
out fury it is." -Ajax (USA). "A fuckin' grand release ...at times like a less muggy Scratch
Acid, with a greater emphasis on clarity and dynamics, and at other times poised to explode into
a ball of razors and shit... Sewer rock never sounded so fuckin' necessary." -Grim Humour.

Branchline 7"
(Bad-40)
A very fine extension to their album, this is their best 7" yet?
"I rate their album as the best in 1993, so my expectations were enormous -and they were
fulfilled all the way... better than ever!" -Moshable.
”Näin tasapainoista mekastusta harvoin kuulee. Hanki ja järkyty.” –Rumba
An Ordinary Family Visits Hell LP / CD
(Bad-46)
Exactly as brilliant release as anybody could have hoped. Less of an all-out noise attack,
with some twisted Beefheartian overtones glued together with somewhat lighter but irresistible
rhythmic structures.
"A strange mixture of entertainment and angst." -Jungle.
"Tällä levyllä on toteutettu kaikki, mitä Suomessa on räminärintamalla (Beefheart - Stooges - Birthday Party)
yritetty.. Omituinen sekoitus viihdettä ja sairasta ahdistusta." -Jungle.
Intoxicated Boom Boom CD
(Bad-62)
The supposedly difficult 3rd album turns out to be the ultimate Sweetheart experience; it's
filled with the "usual" raging hit tunes plus a coupla jaw-dropping "mood jazz"
epics (from 6 to 8 minutes long). Another unadulterated triumph of creativity.
"...Their heaviest, rockiest release, I reckon. No fillers
whatsoever... Almost too good to be true." -Hootch. "Noisier but also
bluesier... The best Finnish (maybe European) release this year!"
-Moshable.
"Kitarat raastavat ja repivät hirvittävällä intensiteetillä.. Biiseistä löytyy
psykorockista hurjuutta, eksoottista instrumentaalitunnelmointia, maanista hymnisyyttä ja
hillityn coolia jazzia Cramps-ripauksella. " -Soundi.
"Hurja levy! Upea levy! Vakava ehdokas Vuoden Levyksi." -Miettinen, Räkärodeo.
Stitches Removal Day CD
(Bad-84)
The 'grown up' swansong album turned out less furious than before but filled to
the brim with their grooviest turbomambobluescore hit tunes.
"The Manic in Sweetheart has turned into Magic"
-Rumba. "Another album of the year!.. Superb bluesy noiserock with enough of
Beefheart, Barret and booze to boost this into a category all of their
own..This is about as good as 'rock' music gets!"-Moshable
"Maanisuus on jalostunut maagisuudeksi. (9 pistettä)" -Rumba.
